Let me suggest two books. The first is "Understanding A3 Thinking" authored by Durward Sobek and Art Smalley. The second is "The Quality Tool Box" by Nancy Tague. The Sobek book suggest a systematic approach to problem solving used by Toyota that is being adopted by a number of healthcare settings around the country. The second is a resource book that includes about every quality tool you could ever want. A colleague and I have developed a 1 1/2 day training for people interested in learning A3 approach. Hope this helps.

We are quality management nurses at a community hospital just starting to incorporate quality and performance improvement in our CME program for our physicians and residents. We are looking for tools to help us get started. Could you recommend anything?
